Who Was Roy Cohn?

Imagine a super-smart lawyer who was really good at arguing cases! That was Roy Cohn. He was born a long, long time ago, in 1927, in a busy place called New York City. He went to college and became a lawyer, which is someone who helps people with laws. He became famous when he was still quite young because he worked on some really important trials that everyone was talking about!

The Big Rosenberg Trial!

One of the most famous things Roy Cohn did was help put Julius and Ethel Rosenberg on trial. They were accused of being spies! Roy was a prosecutor, which means he was on the side trying to prove they did something wrong. He was very good at his job, and the Rosenbergs were found guilty and had to face serious consequences. This made Roy Cohn a very well-known lawyer very quickly.

Working with Senator McCarthy

After the Rosenberg trial, Roy Cohn worked with a very famous senator named Joseph McCarthy. Senator McCarthy was looking for people he thought were spies for another country. Roy was his main helper, called a chief counsel. They worked together on big meetings called hearings where they asked lots of questions. It was a very exciting and sometimes scary time in America!

Helping a Future President!

Much later in his life, Roy Cohn became a lawyer for a man named Donald Trump, who later became the President of the United States. Roy helped Donald Trump with his business when he was just starting out. Roy Cohn was a lawyer for many different kinds of people and was known for being a very clever fixer, someone who could solve tricky problems.
