Ross Ulbricht

Imagine a person named Ross Ulbricht. He was born a long, long time ago, in 1984! When he grew up, he had a big idea.

He wanted to create a special place on the internet where people could buy and sell things. But this wasn't like a normal toy store or a candy shop. This was a secret place, hidden away where it was hard to find.

Ross was the boss of this secret place, and he used a special nickname, like a superhero name, called 'Dread Pirate Roberts'.

The secret place Ross built was called Silk Road. It was like a giant, invisible marketplace on the internet. People could go there to buy all sorts of things, but not the fun kind of things like video games or stuffed animals.

Silk Road was used for buying and selling things that were against the rules, like special medicines and other items that weren't allowed. Everything was done very secretly, using a special kind of internet money called bitcoin, so no one knew who was buying or selling.
