Roman Censors: The Super-Inspectors of Ancient Rome!

They also decided who was important enough to be in the Senate. If someone behaved badly or wasn't doing their job well, the censor could even lower their social status, which was a big deal!

The main thing censors did was the 'census', which is a fancy word for counting people and their stuff. They would sit in a special place called the 'Campus Martius' and call people up to tell them about their lives.
