Python

Pythons are HUGE snakes! They are not venomous, meaning they don't have poisonous bites. Instead, they are constrictors. This means they wrap their strong bodies around their prey, like a big hug, and squeeze until the animal can't breathe anymore. Then, they swallow their meal whole! Pythons have amazing eyesight and can even sense heat to find their dinner in the dark.

You can find pythons in warm, tropical places all around the world. Many pythons live in Africa, Asia, and Australia. They love to hang out in forests, grasslands, and even near water. Some pythons are excellent swimmers and climbers, so they might be found in trees or in rivers. They like to hide and wait for their next meal to come by.

Pythons are carnivores, which means they only eat meat. Their diet can include all sorts of animals! Depending on the size of the python, they might eat birds, lizards, or even larger animals like pigs, monkeys, or deer. They have special jaws that can open super wide, almost like a hinge, so they can swallow their prey whole, even if it's bigger than their head!

Some pythons can grow to be incredibly long, longer than a school bus! The Reticulated Python is the longest snake in the world. Pythons have a special sense called 'thermoception' which lets them feel heat. This helps them find warm-blooded animals, like mammals, even when it's dark. They are truly fascinating creatures of the wild!
