Terrence LeVarr Thornton, professionally known as Pusha T, emerged from Virginia Beach, Virginia, to become a pivotal figure in modern hip hop. His career officially launched in 1994 with the formation of Clipse, alongside his elder brother Gene Thornton (formerly Malice). Discovered by Pharrell Williams, the duo signed with Star Trak Entertainment, an imprint of Arista Records.

Clipse's early work, particularly their albums 'Lord Willin'' (2002) and 'Hell Hath No Fury' (2006), distinguished them with a raw, unflinching lyrical style that often delved into the realities of street commerce and ambition.
