Who's the Boss of the Government?
Imagine a country is like a big team, and the Prime Minister is like the captain of that team! In Vietnam, the Prime Minister is the head of the government. They lead meetings and help decide what the government should do.
It's a very important job! The Prime Minister also suggests people to help them, kind of like picking players for a sports team, and these suggestions go to the National Assembly, which is like the country's big meeting hall.
A Job That Lasts a While!
Being Prime Minister is a big responsibility, so they get to do it for a long time. They can be the Prime Minister for five years, and then they can be chosen again for another five years. That's like staying in charge of your class for two whole school years!
The current Prime Minister is named Phạm Minh Chính, and he started his job in 2021. If the Prime Minister gets sick or can't do their job for a little while, another important person, called a Deputy Prime Minister, steps in to help until the main Prime Minister is feeling better.
Super Important Decisions!
The Prime Minister has a lot of power, but sometimes how much power they have can change. The very first Prime Minister of a united Vietnam, Phạm Văn Đồng, once said he didn't have as much power as people thought. But now, the Prime Minister is super important.
After 1988, the Prime Minister became the third most important person in the Communist Party's Politburo. The Politburo is like the group of people who make the very biggest decisions for Vietnam. So, the Prime Minister is definitely a key player!
What Does the Prime Minister Do?
The Prime Minister is like the main director of the government's work. They lead meetings and make sure everyone is working together. They are also in charge of important groups like the Council for National Education, making sure schools are running well.
They are also a standing member of the Central Military Commission and the Central Police Party Committee, which means they help with important decisions about the country's army and police. It's a job that touches many parts of the country!
