President of the Congress of Deputies

In Spain, there's a very important job called the President of the Congress of Deputies. Think of them like the captain of a team that decides important things for the whole country. This person is chosen from the members of the Congress, which is like a big meeting room where laws are discussed. They are one of the most important people in Spain, right after the King and the Prime Minister!

It started way back in 1810, when people in a city called Cádiz were figuring out how Spain should be run. So, even though the rules for this job were written down more recently, the idea of having a leader for these important meetings has been going on for ages, like a favorite old toy!

The President of the Congress of Deputies has special powers that help make sure things run smoothly. They help with big decisions, like choosing the Prime Minister, who is like the country's main leader. They also help make sure the King's decisions are official.

Because the Congress is the main place where laws are made, the President is like the leader of the team that writes the country's rulebook.

Right now, the person in charge is named Francina Armengol. She's part of a political team called the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party. She represents a beautiful part of Spain called the Balearic Islands. She's the leader for the 15th group of people making rules, and it's the 102nd time this kind of leader has been chosen since the very beginning in Cádiz!
