Key Facts
Meet the Awesome Lawmakers!
The People's National Assembly is like the main team that helps run Algeria. It's the lower house of their Parliament, which is a big group of people who talk about important stuff. Think of it like the student council at school, but for the whole country! They have 407 members, which is a lot of people! Some of them are even chosen to represent Algerians who live far away, in other countries.
When Did This Big Club Start?
This special group has been around for a while, but the exact way it works has changed over time. The members are chosen by people voting, kind of like picking your favorite game to play. They get to make decisions for five years at a time. The last time they picked new members was in 2021. It’s important that people get to choose who represents them.
Why Should We Care About Them?
These lawmakers are super important because they help make the rules that everyone in Algeria follows. They talk about things that affect everyone's lives, like schools, parks, and how people live. When they make laws, it's like they are drawing the map for how the country should go. It’s their job to make sure things are fair and good for everyone.
How Do They Pick the Leaders?
To be a lawmaker, you have to be at least 28 years old, which is older than most kids! People who are 18 or older get to vote for who they want to be in the Assembly. There are 58 different areas, like different neighborhoods, that pick their own representatives. It’s a big job, and they have to work together to make good choices for the country.
