Passport

A passport is like a special ID card for traveling to other countries. It's usually a small booklet, about the size of your hand. Inside, it has your picture, your name, and other important information.

When you go to a new country, an official called a border control officer will look at your passport. They might stamp it with a cool design to show you've visited! It’s like getting a sticker for every new place you explore.

Passports are actually super old! People have been using them for a very, very long time, even before cars or airplanes were invented. Back then, they were more like letters from a king or queen, saying 'This person is allowed to travel.' Over time, they became more like the booklets we use today. They helped people prove who they were and that they were allowed to cross borders safely.

Your passport is super important because it proves you are who you say you are and that you belong to a certain country. Without it, it would be very hard to travel to places like France, Japan, or Australia. It's like having a special key that unlocks the doors to other countries. It helps keep everyone safe and makes sure people are traveling legally.

Your passport has lots of important pages! There’s a page with your photo, your name, and when you were born. It also has a special number that’s just for you.

The other pages are mostly blank. These are where border control officers from different countries will put their stamps. Each stamp is a memory of a place you’ve been!

Some passports have cool security features, like special ink that glows under a black light.
