Fun Fact

Meet the Two Brothers!

Once upon a time, there was a dad with two sons. The younger son wanted his share of the family money right away. He took his money and went far, far away to a place where he spent it all on fun things. But then, he ran out of money and had nothing left! He was so hungry, he even wanted to eat the food that pigs ate. It was a very sad time for him.

Going Home Again

The younger son realized he made a big mistake. He decided to go back home and ask his dad if he could be a servant. When he was still a long way off, his dad saw him! The dad was so happy to see his son, he ran to him and gave him a big hug. He didn't care that his son had made bad choices. The dad even put a special ring on his son's finger and new shoes on his feet!

The Older Brother's Grumbles

The older brother was working in the fields when he heard the party music. He asked a servant what was happening, and he found out his brother was home! He got very angry.

He told his dad, 'I've always worked hard for you, and you never even gave me a party!' But the dad said, 'You are always with me, and everything I have is yours. It was right to celebrate because your brother was lost and now he is found!'

What's the Big Idea?

This story, told by Jesus a long, long time ago, is about how much God loves us. Even if we make mistakes, God is always happy to welcome us back, just like the loving dad. It teaches us to forgive others and to be happy when someone who was lost comes back.
