Pan Am Flight 103

Pan Am Flight 103 was a super-big airplane, a Boeing 747, that flew across the ocean. It was like a flying city! On a cold night in December 1988, this plane was flying from one city to another. But something very sad and unexpected happened high up in the sky over a town called Lockerbie in Scotland.

Suddenly, the plane broke apart in the air. It was like a giant puzzle falling from the sky! Big pieces of the airplane crashed down onto the town of Lockerbie. Sadly, everyone on the plane, and some people in the town, were lost. It was a very, very sad event that shocked everyone.

After the plane crashed, brave detectives and police officers worked for a long, long time to figure out what happened. They looked at all the pieces and talked to many people. They discovered that a bomb had exploded on the plane. This made the event even more mysterious and sad.

Because of what happened, people wanted to understand why and make sure it wouldn't happen again. Leaders from different countries worked together to find out who was responsible. They wanted to bring justice to the families who lost loved ones. It took many years to try and solve this puzzle.
