Order of the Medjidie

The Order of the Medjidie was like a super special award, a bit like a medal, given out a long, long time ago in a place called the Ottoman Empire. It was created by a ruler named Sultan Abdulmejid I. This award wasn't just for soldiers; even people who did really good things for the country could get one. It was a way to say 'Great job!' and show everyone how important their actions were.

This special award started way back in 1852. That's even before your grandparents were born! The Ottoman Empire was a big and powerful place, and the Sultan wanted to recognize people who helped it. The award was given out for many years, until around 1922. That's a lot of years to be giving out shiny medals for bravery and service!

Getting the Order of the Medjidie meant you were really important! It was a way for the Sultan to thank people who were brave in battles or who did amazing things to help the country. Imagine getting a gold star sticker, but way, way bigger and more special. It showed everyone that you were a hero and that your actions made a difference.

Lots of different people could get this award. Soldiers who fought bravely in wars might receive it. But it wasn't only for fighting!
