Cricket's Speedy Showdown!

One Day International, or ODI, is a super exciting way to play cricket! Instead of taking days, a game of ODI is played in just one day, lasting up to 7 hours. It's like a thrilling race where two teams try to score as many runs as possible. The most famous ODI event is the Cricket World Cup, which happens every four years and is a huge deal for cricket fans everywhere!

Born from a Rainy Day!

Believe it or not, ODIs were invented because of bad weather! Back in 1971, a big cricket match in Australia got rained out for three days. So, the players decided to play a shorter game instead, with each team getting 40 chances to bat. Australia won that first-ever ODI game. It was played with white clothes and a red ball, but things got way more colorful later on!

Colors, Lights, and Superstars!

In the past, cricket players wore all white. But in the late 1970s, someone had a bright idea: why not play in colorful outfits and under bright lights at night? This made the game even more exciting to watch, especially on TV! It also meant players could become famous and get paid just for playing cricket, turning them into real sports stars.

Why ODIs are Awesome!

ODIs are special because they pack so much action into one day. They are considered the highest level of this fast-paced cricket. The World Cup, played in this format, is like the Olympics of cricket, where countries battle it out to be the best. It's a game of skill, strategy, and lots of cheering!
