Key Facts
What's a Parliamentary Election?
Think of Bulgaria as a big classroom. Everyone in the classroom needs leaders to make important decisions. A parliamentary election is like the whole country voting for the grown-ups who will be the new leaders in the 'National Assembly.' These leaders help make the rules for the country.
In October 2024, Bulgaria had to do this special voting event again because the last leaders couldn't agree on how to run things!
Why So Many Votes?
Sometimes, when people vote, it's hard for the winners to work together. It's like if your class voted for a new game, but half the class wanted tag and the other half wanted hide-and-seek, and they couldn't decide! Bulgaria had this problem.
After their June vote, the leaders couldn't agree, so they had to vote again and again. The October vote was the sixth time in just a few years! That's a lot of voting!
Who Won the Big Vote?
In the October 2024 vote, one team called GERB–SDS got the most votes, like winning the most points in a game. But even with the most points, they needed help from other teams to have enough 'votes' to make big decisions. Eight different teams got enough votes to have their own special seats in the National Assembly.
One team, called Velichie, almost made it but missed out by just a tiny bit, like being a few steps away from the finish line!
A New Team Takes Charge!
After the voting, it took a long time for the new leaders to be chosen. It was like waiting for a very long time to find out who gets to be the class president. Finally, a new government was formed, led by a person named Rosen Zhelyazkov. This new team started their important job in November 2024. They had to work hard to make sure everyone followed the rules and to help the country.
