Guardians of Awesome Places!

The National Park Service is like a special club that takes care of amazing places all over the United States. Think of giant forests with trees taller than a school bus, or sandy beaches where sea turtles lay eggs, or even old castles where history happened! These places are super important and need protecting so everyone can enjoy them for a long, long time.

The people who work for the National Park Service are like superheroes for nature and history!

When Did the Park Protectors Start?

A long time ago, people realized that some of America's most beautiful and interesting spots were in danger. So, in 1916, the United States government decided to create the National Park Service. It was like saying, 'We need a special team to make sure these treasures are safe!' Since then, this team has grown, and now they protect hundreds of places, big and small, across the whole country.

What Do Park Rangers Do?

Park rangers are the everyday heroes of the National Park Service! They help visitors learn about the plants, animals, and history of the parks. They also make sure everyone follows the rules to keep the parks clean and safe. Sometimes they wear cool uniforms and drive special trucks. They are like teachers and helpers all rolled into one, making sure everyone has a fantastic time exploring!

So Many Parks to Explore!

The National Park Service looks after over 400 different places! That's a lot of exploring to do! These parks are spread out everywhere, from the snowy mountains to sunny deserts.

Some parks are so big, they are larger than some whole countries! They are filled with incredible nature, like roaring waterfalls and quiet lakes, and also important reminders of the past, like ancient ruins and old battlefields.
