Nancy Lincoln

Nancy Lincoln was the mom of a very famous president, Abraham Lincoln! She was born a long, long time ago, in 1784. Imagine a time before cars or phones! Nancy married Thomas Lincoln, and they had children together, including little Abe. They moved around a lot, from Kentucky to a new place called Indiana. Life wasn't always easy for Nancy and her family.

When Abe was just a young boy, his family packed up and moved to Indiana. This was a big adventure! They settled in a place that later became Spencer County. Moving to a new home can be exciting, but it also means leaving friends behind. Nancy and her family were starting fresh in a new land. It was a time of building a new life.

Sadly, Nancy Lincoln got very sick when Abraham was only nine years old. She passed away in 1818. This was a very sad time for young Abe and his father. Losing a mom is one of the hardest things a child can go through. Nancy's life was shorter than we might wish, but she was important because she was Abraham Lincoln's mother.

Even though Nancy Lincoln's life was short and she faced many challenges, she is remembered because she was the mother of Abraham Lincoln. He grew up to be the 16th president of the United States and helped lead the country through a very difficult time. Every person, even those who lived a long time ago, has a story that matters.
