Nadezhda Alliluyeva

Imagine a girl named Nadezhda who grew up a long, long time ago in a place called Russia. She was born in 22 September 1901. She met a very important man named Joseph Stalin when she was just a young girl. They grew up knowing each other, and when she was 18, they got married! That's about the age you might be in middle school. Nadezhda and Joseph had two children together, a boy and a girl.

Nadezhda wasn't just a wife and mom. She was super smart and worked as a secretary for important leaders, like Vladimir Lenin and even her husband, Joseph Stalin. Later, she decided she wanted to be an engineer! She went to a special school to learn how to make new kinds of materials, like the stuff clothes are made of. She was studying to be a scientist and inventor!

Even though Nadezhda had a busy and interesting life, things weren't always happy. She sometimes felt sick, and she and Joseph had arguments. She also worried that he might not always be truthful with her. Sadly, after one big argument, Nadezhda made a very sad choice. She passed away on 9 November 1932, when she was only 31 years old. That's younger than your parents or teachers!

Nadezhda Alliluyeva is remembered today as the second wife of Joseph Stalin.
