Merkit

Imagine a land with wide, flowing rivers like the Selenga and Orkhon. That's where the Merkit people lived a super long time ago! Their homes were in a place called the Mongolian Plateau. It was a big, open area with lots of space to roam. Think of it like a giant playground, but much, much bigger! The weather there could be cold in the winter and warm in the summer, just like some places today.

The Merkit were one of five big groups of people who lived together. They were known as 'Wise Ones' because they were very clever! For over 20 years, they had a big challenge with another powerful leader named Genghis Khan.
