He stayed there from 1988 all the way until 2006. That's longer than you've been in school! He slept on chairs and ate food from the airport shops.

Mehran wanted to go to England, but he lost his important papers. Without his papers, he couldn't travel. So, he couldn't leave the airport! He was like a bird with clipped wings, stuck in one place. He tried to get new papers, but it was very tricky. He became famous because he lived in the airport for so many years, and people wanted to know his story.
His Story Became a Movie!
Guess what? Mehran's life was so unusual that it inspired two movies! One was called 'Lost in Transit' and another was called 'The Terminal'. The movie 'The Terminal' was even starring a famous actor named Tom Hanks! It's like his life was so interesting, Hollywood wanted to make a show about it. A Very Special Life
Mehran Karimi Nasseri's life was very different from most people's. He wrote a book about his experiences called 'The Terminal Man'. Even after he left the airport for a while, he actually went back to live there again in 2022! He sadly passed away at the airport later that year. His story reminds us that sometimes, life takes unexpected turns.
