Maxime Bernier

Maxime Bernier is a Canadian politician, which means he works in government and helps make rules for the country. He was born on January 18, 1963. He used to be part of a big political team called the Conservative Party, but then he decided to start his very own team called the People's Party of Canada. He's like the captain of this new team!

Before becoming a politician, Maxime Bernier worked in jobs like law and banking. He was first elected to represent a place called Beauce in 2006. He even became a minister, which is like a super important helper to the Prime Minister! He was in charge of industry and then foreign affairs, which is about Canada's relationships with other countries. That's a lot of responsibility!

In 2017, Maxime Bernier wanted to lead the Conservative Party, but he didn't win. He had big ideas, like not giving special help to big companies and changing how Canada buys milk. Because he and the leader of the Conservative Party didn't agree on everything, he decided to leave and create his own political party, the People's Party of Canada, in 2018.
