Mashhad

Imagine a big, bustling city in the country of Iran, way over in Asia! That's Mashhad! It's nestled in a valley, kind of like a cozy spot between hills.

The weather there can be really hot in the summer, like a super sunny day at the playground, and then get quite cold and snowy in the winter, perfect for building snowmen! It's a place with lots of sunshine and sometimes a bit of rain to help the plants grow.

Mashhad wasn't always this big! A long, long time ago, it was a small village. But then, something amazing happened!

A very important person, Imam Reza, was buried there. People started visiting his tomb, and it became a super special holy place. Over hundreds of years, more and more people came, and the village grew and grew into the big city it is today.

It's like a tiny seed growing into a giant tree!

Mashhad is a very popular place, so lots and lots of people live there and visit! It's one of the biggest cities in Iran. The most famous thing is the incredible Shrine of Imam Reza. It has a giant golden dome that shines in the sun and tall minarets that reach for the sky. People come from all over the world to see it and feel its special peace. It's a place full of beautiful art and history.

Because so many people visit Mashhad, a lot of jobs are about helping those visitors! People work in hotels, restaurants, and shops selling souvenirs. They also work in places that help build and take care of the beautiful buildings. Since it's a big city, there are also schools and hospitals, just like in your town! People are busy making Mashhad a wonderful place for everyone.
