Who Are the Marchers?

Imagine a big group of kids and grown-ups who want to make things safer. That's the March for Our Lives! It's a special kind of protest where people, especially students, walk together to show they care about making schools and neighborhoods safer from gun violence.

They believe everyone deserves to feel safe when they go to school or play outside. They march to be heard and to ask leaders to make new rules about guns.

When Did the Big March Happen?

The very first big March for Our Lives happened a few years ago, in 2018. It was planned by students who were very sad and worried after a shooting at their school in Parkland, Florida. They decided they had to do something!

So, they organized a huge march in Washington, D.C., and lots of other marches happened all over the country and even in other parts of the world. It was like a giant wave of people wanting change!

What Do They Want?

These marchers have some important ideas. They want to make sure everyone who buys a gun has a background check, like a quick check to see if it's safe for them to have one. They also want to stop people from buying certain kinds of guns that can shoot very fast, and they want to make it harder to get big clips of bullets. They think these changes will help keep everyone safer.

So Many People!

Guess how many people came to the first big march? It was more than a million, maybe even two million people! That's more people than live in some big cities. They all walked together, holding signs and cheering, to show that they really, really want things to be safer. It was one of the biggest protests ever in America, and it showed that young people can make a big difference!
