Manuel Urrutia Lleó

Manuel Urrutia Lleó was a lawyer from Cuba, a sunny island country. He was born a long, long time ago, in 1901. He believed in fairness and being kind to everyone. He was like a superhero for justice, speaking up when things weren't right. He even became the president of Cuba for a little while!

Manuel didn't like it when leaders were unfair or bossy. There were two leaders, Gerardo Machado and Fulgencio Batista, who were like playground bullies. Manuel bravely spoke out against them. He wanted Cuba to be a place where everyone was treated well. He was a lawyer, which means he knew a lot about rules and fairness.

After a big change in Cuba, Manuel became president in 1959. It was a very exciting time! But being president wasn't always easy. He had some disagreements with another important leader named Fidel Castro. After only seven months, Manuel decided to step down from being president. It's like leaving a game if you don't agree with the rules.

After he left his job as president, Manuel moved to the United States. He lived there for many years until he passed away in 1981. Even though he wasn't president anymore, his story is important because it shows how people can stand up for what they believe in. He was a lawyer who wanted a fair country for everyone.
