Louis XIV of France

Imagine a country called France, way over in Europe! It's a place with big cities, rolling hills, and even tall mountains. The weather can be warm and sunny in the summer, perfect for playing outside, and chilly with snow in the winter.

France has lots of rivers that are like watery highways, helping boats travel all around. It's also home to amazing castles and beautiful gardens, like the ones King Louis XIV loved!

Louis XIV became king when he was just a little boy, only four years old! That's younger than most kids in your class. He didn't do kingly things right away, though. He had grown-ups helping him rule until he was older. But when he grew up, he decided he wanted to be in charge of EVERYTHING. He ruled France for a very, very long time, longer than your grandparents have been alive!

King Louis XIV loved to be called the 'Sun King' because he thought he was as important as the sun! He built a gigantic, super fancy palace called Versailles. It had hundreds of rooms, sparkling chandeliers, and gardens so big you could get lost in them!

Thousands of people worked there, from cooks to gardeners to people who helped him get dressed. It was like the biggest, most luxurious playground ever!

Louis XIV was the boss of France. He made the rules and decided how the country was run. He loved art, music, and fancy clothes. He also loved going to war, which meant his soldiers fought battles in other countries. He wanted France to be the most powerful and famous country in the world. He spent a lot of money making his palace beautiful and his army strong.
