Richard Wayne Penniman, known globally as Little Richard, emerged from Macon, Georgia, on December 5, 1932, to become one of the most pivotal figures in 20th-century popular music. His career, spanning an astonishing seven decades, saw him not merely participate in music but fundamentally shape its trajectory. From the mid-1950s, his unique blend of gospel fervor, blues grit, and R&B energy, amplified by frenetic piano playing and a raspy, powerful vocal delivery, became the blueprint for rock and roll.
