Where Did These Sultans Come From?
A long, long time ago, a brave leader named Osman I started a special family. This family, called the Ottoman dynasty, became super powerful! They ruled a huge empire that stretched across many countries, like a giant playground!
Their empire was so big, it was like having lands from Europe all the way to Asia. They started their rule in a small town and then moved their capital city to amazing places like Constantinople, which is now called Istanbul. That's a lot of history for one family!
Who Were the Sultans?
The sultans were the kings and queens of the Ottoman Empire. There were 36 of them in total, and they all belonged to the same family! They were in charge for more than 600 years, which is longer than your grandparents' grandparents' grandparents have been alive!
Some sultans were known for being great leaders and warriors, while others were famous for building beautiful buildings. They were the main bosses of this enormous empire for a very, very long time.
What Did They Rule?
The Ottoman Empire was HUGE! At its biggest, it was like a giant blanket covering lands from cold places in the north to warm places in the south. It even stretched from the west to the east!
