List of Space Shuttle Crews

The Space Shuttle was like a giant airplane that could fly into space! The people who flew on it were called crews. They were like the pilots and special helpers on a super-duper adventure.

Each crew had a commander, who was the boss, and other astronauts who had different jobs. Some were pilots, some were scientists, and some were experts at fixing things. They trained for years to be ready for their amazing missions!

The very first Space Shuttle mission was called STS-1, and it happened way back in 1981! The crew was made up of two brave pilots, John Young and Robert Crippen. They flew the shuttle Columbia.

It was a huge moment because it was the first time a reusable spacecraft, like a car you could use again and again, went to space. They didn't just fly there; they also landed it back on Earth like an airplane!
