Meet the Rocky Mountain Giants!

Imagine mountains so tall they tickle the clouds! The Rocky Mountains are a super long chain of mountains in North America. They stretch like a giant sleeping dragon across many countries. Some peaks are so high, they're like the king of the mountain, way above everything else. Others are like grumpy giants, sticking out a lot from the land around them. It's a wild and wonderful place!

How Tall Are These Mountains?

Some Rocky Mountain peaks are incredibly tall. The highest ones are measured from the sea, and they reach super high! Think of a really tall building, then imagine many, many of those stacked up. The highest peaks are much, much taller than even the tallest skyscraper you've ever seen. They are like nature's skyscrapers, reaching for the sky!

Mountains That Stand Out!

Some mountains are famous because they stick up a lot from the land around them. This is called 'prominence.' Imagine a big hill, and then a super tall pointy mountain right next to it. That pointy mountain 'prominently' stands out! The Rocky Mountains have some of these super prominent peaks that look like they are showing off how tall they are.

Mountains Far, Far Away!

Did you know some mountains are so far from other high places that they are super 'isolated'? It means if you wanted to walk from one mountain peak to another one that's just as high, you'd have to walk a really, really long way! The Rocky Mountains have some of these lonely giants that are far from any other tall friends.
