List of International Space Station spacewalks

Spacewalks, also called Extravehicular Activities (EVAs), are when astronauts leave the International Space Station (ISS) to work outside. Think of it like going outside for recess, but your playground is the entire Earth below! These brave explorers wear special spacesuits that are like tiny spaceships, keeping them safe and giving them air to breathe.

They float around, fixing things or adding new parts to the ISS, which is as big as a football field!

The idea of working outside a spacecraft started a long time ago. The very first spacewalk happened in 1965, even before the ISS was built! Astronauts on different space missions began doing these amazing feats.

When the International Space Station started being built in 1998, spacewalks became super important. Astronauts had to go outside many, many times to connect all the giant pieces of the station together, like building with giant LEGOs in space!
