List of FA Community Shield matches

Imagine the very first game of the football year, like the first day of school but way more exciting! That's the FA Community Shield. It's a special match played every August between the winners of the Premier League (the best league team) and the winners of the FA Cup (the best cup team). This game started a super long time ago, way back in 1908! Back then, it was called the Charity Shield, and it was played to raise money for good causes. The very first game was at a place called Stamford Bridge. Now, most of these exciting matches are played at the famous Wembley Stadium, which is so big it could fit lots and lots of football fields inside!

Usually, the team that won the big league and the team that won the big cup get to play. But if one team wins BOTH the league and the cup (that's called a 'double'!), then the team that came second in the league gets a chance to play. It's a way to make sure the best teams get to show off their skills and win another shiny trophy!

Manchester United has won this special game more times than any other team – they've lifted the trophy 21 times! That's a lot of winning! Sometimes, the game can be a bit like a friendly practice for the big season ahead, but other times, teams really want to win that first trophy of the year.
