Meet Lincoln University!

Imagine a big, beautiful place where students go to learn and grow. That's Lincoln University! It's near a town called Oxford in Pennsylvania.

It's like a mini-city with lots of buildings for classes and places to live. This university is special because it was one of the very first places where Black students could go to get a college degree. It's been around for a really, really long time, since 1854!

A School with a Big History!

Lincoln University started as a private school called Ashmun Institute way back in 1854. That’s even before your grandparents’ grandparents were born! Over the years, it grew and changed.

In 1972, it became a public school, meaning it got support from the state. It's also the first college in the whole country that gave degrees to African American students. Think of it like being the first kid to ever win a special prize!

Why Lincoln University is So Cool!

Lincoln University is super important because it opened doors for so many people. It was a place where students who might not have had other options could get a great education and learn amazing things. It's also known for welcoming everyone, no matter their race or where they come from. Even today, about 2,000 students learn there, and many of them are women!

At Lincoln University, students can study all sorts of cool subjects, from science to art. They can get special degrees that show they've learned a lot. The main campus is huge, covering 422 acres!
