Lee Harvey Oswald

Imagine a person who made a very big, very sad choice. Lee Harvey Oswald was a man who, on a sunny day in 1963, did something that shocked the whole country. He was a U.S. Marine veteran, but his life took a turn that led him to become known for a very sad event. He was born a long, long time ago, in 1939, and his life ended when he was still quite young, in 1963.

Lee Harvey Oswald's childhood was a bit like a bumpy road. He moved to many different schools, about 12 of them! Sometimes, when kids don't go to school, they can get into trouble.

Oswald did, and he was even sent to a special place for kids. Later, he joined the Marines, which is like being a soldier. But even there, things didn't always go smoothly.

He even lived in a faraway country called the Soviet Union for a while before coming back to America.

On November 22, 1963, President John F. Kennedy was riding in a car through a city called Dallas. Suddenly, shots were fired from a tall building. Lee Harvey Oswald was in that building, on the sixth floor, and he was the one who fired the shots. This was a terrible event that made many people very sad and confused. It was like a dark cloud suddenly appeared on a bright day.

After the shooting, Oswald tried to get away. He even went into a movie theater! But he was caught by the police.

He said he didn't do it and was just a 'patsy,' which means someone blamed for something they didn't do. But just two days later, something else shocking happened. Oswald himself was shot and killed by another man named Jack Ruby.

It was all shown on television, which was very unusual and scary for people watching.
