Lawrence Taylor

Imagine a superhero on a football field! That was Lawrence Taylor, or L.T. as everyone called him. He played football for the New York Giants for 13 years.

People say he was the best defensive player EVER! He was so good at stopping the other team, they had to change how they played football just because of him. He was like a whirlwind of energy, making amazing tackles and getting to the other team's quarterback super fast.

Before he was a pro, L.T. was a star player at the University of North Carolina. He was so good that the New York Giants picked him very early in the draft, which is like being chosen first for a special team. Even though some people were worried about him, he quickly showed everyone how amazing he was.

In his very first year playing professionally, he won an award for being the best rookie defender! That's like winning a gold medal in your first-ever race.

L.T. had some incredible football superpowers. He was an outside linebacker, which means he was one of the main players trying to stop the other team from scoring. He was so fast at rushing the quarterback that he made other teams change their whole plan!

He even had a game where he got 20.5 sacks, which is a LOT! A sack is when you tackle the quarterback behind the line where they started. He also won a special award three times, something only a few players have ever done.

L.T. was a super important part of the New York Giants' defense, which was nicknamed the 'Big Blue Wrecking Crew.' This awesome team won two Super Bowls, which are the biggest championship games in football! He played with other great linebackers like Carl Banks and Harry Carson, and together they were called the 'Crunch Bunch' because they were so tough. L.T. was a true leader and made his team champions.
