Kutu people

Imagine a group of people living in a beautiful part of Tanzania! These are the Kutu people. They are known for their unique ways of life and their strong connection to their families. They are a special part of the world's amazing diversity, like different flavors in an ice cream shop!

The Kutu people call the northern Morogoro Region of Tanzania their home. This is a special place with lots of nature. Think of it like a big, cozy neighborhood where everyone knows each other. They live in areas called southern Morogoro District and Kilosa District.

One super cool thing about the Kutu is that they have a 'matrilineal' society. This means that family ties are traced through the mother's side! It's like saying your grandma is super important for knowing who's who in the family. This is a special way to organize families that’s different from many other places.

In 1987, scientists counted the Kutu people, and there were about 45,000 of them! That's a lot of people, almost like filling up a big stadium or a small city! They are a vibrant community with a rich culture that has been passed down through many, many years.
