Kinneil House

Kinneil House is like a special old house in Scotland, a country far away! It sits near a town called Bo'ness. Think of it as being in a big, green park. Scotland has lots of rain, so it's usually a bit damp and cool, perfect for growing fluffy sheep and green grass. The house is part of a park that has a very, very old Roman wall running through it!

A long, long time ago, a very important family called the Hamiltons lived in Kinneil House. It was their main home in that part of Scotland. The house you see today is built on top of an even older stone tower. Imagine building a new toy house on top of your old one! This old tower had little holes for soldiers to shoot arrows or cannons from.

Guess what? When people thought Kinneil House was going to be torn down, they found amazing paintings hidden on the walls! These paintings are from hundreds of years ago. The house also has special holes, called gunloops, where people used to put cannons to defend their home. It's like a real-life castle adventure!

Kinneil House is in a park that's super special. It has a piece of the famous Roman Antonine Wall! The Romans were like ancient superheroes who built amazing roads and walls. This park even has the remains of a small Roman fort, like a tiny castle where Roman soldiers might have stayed. It's like stepping back in time!
