Kiln

A kiln is like a special, super-hot oven that can get much hotter than your kitchen oven! It's a cozy, insulated room where things are baked to change them. For thousands of years, people have used kilns to turn soft, wet clay into hard, useful things like bowls, cups, and even bricks to build houses. It’s like magic, but it’s science!

People have been using kilns for a very, very long time, even before castles were built! Early kilns were often just holes dug in the ground or simple piles of stones that got hot from fires.
