Who Was Breonna?

Breonna Taylor was a young woman, just 26 years old, who worked as a medical helper. She was getting ready for bed one night in her own home. Sadly, her life was taken away when police officers came into her apartment. It was a very sad event that made many people think about fairness and safety.

A Night of Confusion

On March 13, 2020, police officers entered Breonna's home. Breonna's boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, thought they were strangers trying to break in and fired a warning shot. This made the police officers shoot back. Sadly, Breonna was hit by a bullet and did not survive. It was a terrible accident that happened very quickly.

Remembering Breonna

After Breonna's death, many people were very sad and angry. They started saying #SayHerName to make sure everyone remembered her. People all over the country held peaceful protests to talk about how important it is for everyone to be treated fairly and safely, especially in their own homes. This movement helped people understand each other better.

Making Things Better

Breonna's family received money to help them. The police department also promised to change the way they do things to be safer and fairer. Even though Breonna is no longer with us, her story helps us learn and try to make the world a better place for everyone. Her memory reminds us to always be kind and look out for each other.
