Where is Katanga?

Katanga Province is a super big place in a country called the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It's so big, it used to be one of the largest provinces there! Think of it like a giant playground, but instead of swings and slides, it has rolling hills and busy towns. It's a place with lots of sunshine and sometimes rain, making it a great spot for growing things and finding cool rocks.

A Land of Treasures!

Katanga is famous for its hidden treasures deep underground. It's like a giant treasure chest filled with shiny metals like copper and tin, and even sparkling diamonds! People dig these treasures up to make things we use every day, like coins and jewelry. This makes Katanga a very important place for the whole country, like a superhero's secret base!

Long, Long Ago

A very long time ago, Katanga was part of a bigger area called the Belgian Congo. Then, it became one of the main parts of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. For a while, its name even changed to Shaba Province! It has seen many changes, like a tree growing taller and stronger over many years, but it has always been a special place.

What Do People Do There?

People in Katanga work hard! Many farmers grow food on the land, like yummy fruits and vegetables. Others work in the mines, carefully digging up all those precious treasures. The biggest city, Lubumbashi, is like a bustling hive where lots of people live and work. It's the second-biggest city in the whole country, full of life!
