Jupiter

Imagine a planet so big that all the other planets in our solar system could fit inside it! That's Jupiter! It's the fifth planet from the Sun, and it's a gas giant, meaning it's made mostly of gases like hydrogen and helium, not solid rock like Earth. Jupiter is so huge, its diameter is about 11 times bigger than Earth's. It's like comparing a tiny pebble to a giant beach ball!

Jupiter has a super famous storm called the Great Red Spot. It's like a giant hurricane that's been swirling for hundreds of years! This storm is so big, you could fit our entire planet Earth inside it. Jupiter also spins really fast, much faster than Earth. It takes only about 10 hours for Jupiter to do one full spin, which makes it bulge out a little around its middle, like a spinning top!

Jupiter isn't alone in space; it has at least 97 moons orbiting around it! That's more moons than you have fingers and toes, and then some! The four biggest moons are Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto. One of these moons, Ganymede, is even bigger than the planet Mercury. It's like having a whole mini solar system around Jupiter!

Jupiter is like a giant vacuum cleaner for our solar system. Its massive gravity pulls in and pushes away many space rocks and comets that might otherwise crash into Earth. This helps protect our planet! Scientists also study Jupiter to learn more about how planets form and how our own solar system came to be. It's a key piece of the cosmic puzzle!
