Joko Widodo

Joko Widodo, but everyone calls him Jokowi, was the president of a big country called Indonesia. Imagine being the leader for over 270 million people! Jokowi wasn't born into a rich family or a family of politicians.

He grew up in a small house by a river and worked as a carpenter, making furniture. This is super cool because it means he understood what it was like for everyday people. He became president in 2014 and served for 10 years, helping his country grow and change.

Before becoming president, Jokowi was the mayor of a city called Surakarta. He was so good at his job that people noticed! He would walk around the city, unannounced, to see how things were going and talk to people.

This was like a surprise inspection, but a friendly one! Then, he became the governor of Jakarta, the capital city. He worked hard to fix problems like flooding and made sure people could get healthcare.

He was like a superhero for the city!

As president, Jokowi wanted to build lots of new things, like roads, bridges, and even a subway system in Jakarta. He was so busy building that people called him the 'Father of Indonesian Infrastructure'! He also wanted to make sure all children could go to school and get good healthcare.

He even made rules to protect Indonesia's oceans by sinking illegal fishing boats. He was a president who really cared about making Indonesia a stronger and better place for everyone.

Jokowi was special because he wasn't from the usual powerful families. He showed that anyone, no matter where they come from, can become a leader if they work hard and care about others. He listened to people and tried his best to solve their problems.

Even though he faced challenges, he always focused on making Indonesia a better country. He finished his time as president with many people still liking his work!
