John Wycliffe

Imagine a time when only a few people could read a very important book called the Bible. John Wycliffe lived a long, long time ago, around the year 1328. He was a teacher at a famous school called Oxford University.

He believed that everyone, not just the super-smart people, should be able to understand God's word. So, he helped make a special version of the Bible that people in England could read in their own language, called Middle English. This was a HUGE deal!

John Wycliffe wasn't afraid to speak his mind, even when it was tricky. He thought that churches shouldn't have too much money or power. He believed that leaders should be good and kind, not just powerful.

He was like a superhero for fairness! His ideas were so new and different that some people didn't like them. But his followers, who were sometimes called 'Lollards,' kept his ideas going.
