John Magufuli

John Magufuli was the fifth president of a country called Tanzania, in Africa. He was born a long time ago, in 1959, and became president in 2015. He was like the captain of a big ship, guiding Tanzania. He was also a minister before becoming president, working on roads and transport. He was president until he passed away in 2021.

When Magufuli became president, he wanted to make Tanzania better. He focused on making the country's businesses stronger and tried to stop people from taking money that wasn't theirs. Tanzania grew a lot during his time, like a plant getting bigger and stronger. It even moved up a level, from being a poorer country to a middle-income country, which means people had more opportunities.

During a time when many countries were worried about a sickness called COVID-19, President Magufuli did things differently. He decided not to stop testing for the sickness and didn't ask people to wear masks or stay far apart. He believed in other ways to stay safe, like faith, instead of medicines from other countries. This was a very unusual choice compared to leaders around the world.

President Magufuli was president for a few years. He was elected once, and then re-elected again because people wanted him to continue leading. Sadly, he passed away in 2021 because of a heart problem. After he was gone, the vice-president, Samia Suluhu, became the new leader of Tanzania. She took over the job of guiding the country.
