J. Edgar Hoover

J. Edgar Hoover was a very important man who led a special police group called the FBI for a super long time. He was born on January 1, 1895.

He was like the boss of detectives, making sure laws were followed. He started out leading a group called the BOI, which later became the FBI. He stayed in charge for 48 years, which is longer than you've been alive, and even longer than your parents have been alive!

Hoover was really good at making the FBI stronger. He helped create a giant collection of fingerprints so detectives could easily find out who committed crimes. He also built special labs where scientists could examine clues, like tiny fibers or strange substances.
