Ivan V of Russia

Ivan V was a Tsar, which is like a king, of a huge country called Russia! Russia is so big, it's the largest country in the whole world, stretching across lots of land. Ivan V was Tsar from 1682 to 1696. But guess what? He didn't rule alone! He shared his royal job with his younger half-brother, Peter. They were like co-captains of a ship, but Ivan's part was more like a special guest star. He was the youngest son of Tsar Alexis I.

Ivan V had some challenges that made ruling a bit different for him. He had some health issues that meant he couldn't do all the kingly duties himself. His brother Peter was the one who really took charge. It's like having a best friend who helps you with a tricky game.

Ivan V was born in 1666 and lived until 1696. He was the son of Tsar Alexis I and his first wife, Maria Miloslavskaya. Even though he was Tsar, his role was mostly for show because of his health. His younger brother, Peter, who was the son of Alexis's second wife, Natalya Naryshkina, became the famous Peter the Great.
