International Cat Day!

Every year on August 8th, we get to celebrate International Cat Day! It's a super fun day to learn all about cats, from the tiny kittens to the big lions. This special day was started a long time ago, in 2002, by a group called the International Fund for Animal Welfare. They wanted everyone to know how amazing cats are and how we can help keep them safe and happy.

For a while, the International Fund for Animal Welfare took care of International Cat Day. But guess what? In 2020, a new group took over! It's called International Cat Care, and they are from Britain. They've been working super hard since 1958 to make sure cats all over the world are healthy and well-loved. They are like the ultimate cat champions!

International Cat Day is all about making sure everyone remembers how special cats are. It's a chance to learn cool facts about them and find out how we can be good friends to all cats. Whether they are our pets at home or wild cats in faraway places, they all deserve our kindness and protection. Let's give them a big cheer!

Did you know that cats have been friends with humans for thousands of years? They are super good at hunting, which is why they were so helpful to people long ago.
