A City Built for Fun!
Long, long ago, people called the Lenape lived in this area. Then, in 1821, people decided to build a brand new city right here to be Indiana's capital. They planned it out like a giant checkerboard! Over time, more roads and train tracks were built, which helped Indy become a busy place for making things and for people to trade. It's a city with a long history of growing and changing.
