Indecent Proposal

Once upon a time, a movie called 'Indecent Proposal' came out. It's a story about a couple whose lives get turned upside down by a surprising offer. A very rich stranger sees the wife and thinks she's amazing. He offers the husband a whole million dollars just for her to spend one night with him! Can you imagine? That's more money than you could count in a whole year at school!

This movie wasn't just dreamed up out of nowhere! It was actually based on a book written a few years before, in 1988. The book was written by a man named Jack Engelhard.

Then, a clever person named Amy Holden Jones wrote the movie script. A famous director, Adrian Lyne, brought the story to life on the big screen. It stars big actors like Robert Redford and Demi Moore.

It's like a recipe: book, script, director, actors, and POOF! A movie!

Well, not exactly! Some people thought the story was a bit silly and hard to believe, like a fairy tale that doesn't quite make sense. Others were upset because they felt it made women seem like things that could be bought.

But guess what? Even though some people didn't like it, lots and lots of people went to see it! It made a TON of money, almost $267 million dollars worldwide.

That's enough money to buy a lot of ice cream!

The biggest part of this story is the choice the couple has to make. They are offered a huge amount of money, which could solve all their problems. But it means the wife has to do something she might not want to do. It makes you think about what's really important: money or trust and love? It's a story that asks big questions about what people would do for a lot of cash.
