Imagine a special pipe with tubes and a glass bowl filled with water. This is a hookah! People put flavored tobacco, like sweet fruit flavors, into a special part. Then, they light it up, and the smoke travels through the water. This makes the smoke cool and bubbly before it's breathed in. It's like a fun, smoky science experiment!

Hookahs are super old! They were invented a very, very long time ago in India by a smart doctor. From India, they traveled to other countries like Persia, where people made them look even cooler. Over hundreds of years, hookahs became popular in many places, and now people all over the world know about them. They've been around longer than your grandparents' grandparents!

Hookahs are often used for fun social times, like when friends get together. People enjoy the different flavors, like apple or mint, and the bubbly smoke. It's a way for people to relax and chat. But, it's important to know that smoking anything can be bad for your health, even if it smells nice. The water doesn't clean out all the yucky stuff.

It all starts with the flavored tobacco, called mu'assel. This is put in a bowl on top. Hot coals are placed on top of the tobacco, which makes it heat up and create smoke. This smoke then goes down a long pipe and into a glass jar filled with water. When you pull on the hose, the smoke bubbles up through the water and then you breathe it in. It's a whole process!
