Key Facts
Meet the Giant Sea Road!
The Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge is like a super-duper long highway that goes over the ocean! It's actually a mix of bridges and a tunnel that goes underneath the water. It's so long, it's the longest sea crossing in the whole world! It connects three amazing places: Hong Kong, Zhuhai, and Macau. Think of it as a giant hug connecting these cities across the water.
How Does This Giant Road Work?
This amazing bridge is actually made of different parts. There are three big bridges that look like they're held up by giant strings, called cable-stayed bridges. Then, for a part of the journey, the road goes down, down, down into a tunnel under the sea!
There are also four special islands made by people that connect the bridges and the tunnel. It’s like a puzzle made of roads, tunnels, and islands!
Why Is This Bridge So Cool?
This bridge is super important because it makes it much faster to travel between Hong Kong, Zhuhai, and Macau. Before, it took a long time to get between them by boat. Now, you can drive there in your car or a bus in much less time! It helps people visit their friends and family and also helps businesses send their goods. It’s like a super-fast shortcut over the water!
Building a Dream Over the Waves
Building this giant bridge was a huge project that took many years. It was designed to be super strong and last for a very, very long time, even 120 years! That’s longer than your grandparents have been alive! It cost a lot of money to build, like buying thousands and thousands of toys. But now it’s finished and people can drive on it, which is really exciting!
