Heitor Villa-Lobos

Heitor Villa-Lobos was a super-duper composer from Brazil, a big country in South America. He was born a long, long time ago, in 1887! He loved music so much that he wrote over 2,000 songs and pieces. That's more music than you could listen to every day for five years! He was like a musical storyteller, using his instruments to paint pictures with sound.

Heitor didn't just stay home and write music. He traveled around Brazil, listening to all the different sounds of the jungle, the cities, and the people. He heard folk songs, animal noises, and the rhythms of everyday life.
